Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN) is an ultra-high-purity ceramic material typically produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Unlike conventional hot-pressed boron nitride, PBN can provide exceptionally high purity, strong electrical insulation, low outgassing, chemical inertness, and excellent performance in vacuum and high-temperature environments.

 

PBN has a highly anisotropic layered structure, meaning properties such as thermal conductivity, electrical behavior, and mechanical performance differ significantly between directions parallel and perpendicular to the deposition plane. This characteristic makes proper material orientation important for demanding thermal and electronic applications.
